About Mark Spenser
Founder & Zero-Waste Advocate at SustainablyYour.com
Hey there! I’m Mark Spenser – a passionate sustainability newbie documenting my journey to live more intentionally while helping others do the same.
Though I’m just starting out, I’ve immersed myself in sustainable living through:
Hands-on experiments – From DIY bamboo toothbrushes to upcycling 100+ household items
Certified learning – Completed courses in Circular Economy (SDG Academy) and Urban Gardening (Coursera)
Community building – Growing a [sustainable living]-member Instagram community (@sustainablyyour) where we share fails and wins
This blog is my way of: Breaking down eco-friendly living into simple, actionable steps
Testing “green” products so you don’t have to (spoiler: many are scams!)
Sharing data-backed guides (because sustainability needs less hype, more facts)
Why Trust My Advice?
Transparency first: Every tip I share is something I’ve personally tried – you’ll see my unfiltered results (including messy failures!).
Open-source ethos: All my projects/code are public on GitHub for verification.
No greenwashing: If a “sustainable” brand disappoints me, I’ll tell you straight.
My Story
In 2023, I shocked myself by counting 127 plastic bottles in my monthly trash. As a developer (see my tech side here), I knew there had to be a systematic way to fix this.
Now, I: Build low-waste tools (like my open-source recycling tracker)
Write beginner-friendly guides (because sustainability info is often overwhelming)
Connect with experts (follow my interviews on Twitter/X)
